Hormone
Steroid Cascade - Chart
The chart below illustrates how hormones are made
from cholesterol as the
building blocks for Progesterone, DHEA, Testosterone, Estrogen.
When prescribing hormone replacement it is very
important to look at any deficiencies prior to putting a patient on hormone replacement.
As an example, if you are low or deficient in
DHEA, Testosterone and Estrogen
by recommending DHEA this in turn may produce enough testosterone and eventaully may increase your levels of
estrogen.
Although, in the example above if you are low
in all those hormones with the accompanying symptoms it may be wise to recommend a dose of DHEA, testosterone and a
small dosage of estrogen to see if your symptoms are improving.
